Love yourself: El significado de la palabra perfección // The meaning of the word perfection

***

I know it's not Tuesday and I should have uploaded yesterday but I was bussy stalking Ed Sheeran around Madrid and I couldn't upload earlier (I didn't get to meet him but if you want me to tell you how was my day tell me and I will write about it in another post)

Anyways, today I'm going to talk about the word perfection. Why? Because this is what appears in weheart.it when we write this word:

Skinny bodies are what we call perfection nowadays. But let's call the things as they are this is not perfection, they are just beautiful bodies (and not even that because what can be beautiful for some of us maybe too skinny for others).
And if we search the same word on Tumblr the thing gets worse as we can find these things:

The struggle to achieve that inexistent perfection leads to depression, self-harm, eating disorders...
And let me tell you something, that perfection that they are selling us is bullshit, because nobody is perfect. Those pictures show "perfect bodies" but, do you know the personality of the person behind it? Do you know if they have some kind of disease, or eating disorder and they are trying to get out of it?  Maybe they don't even have family or friend or they are awful human beings. You don't know how they are but you NEED to be like them, you NEED to be like their bodies. And while you are hating yourself, you are asking yourself for too much and you are crying because you are not able to achieve perfection you are missing all the beautiful and wonderful things inside you. You're missing how beautiful your eyes look when you are laughing out loud, or how good taste a cheese burger without feeling wrong with yourself. The desire of being perfect faints your beautiful hair, your delightful personality... And that time that you are losing searching for perfection is not coming back to you when you realize the truth.

So in the morning when you wake up don't look at the extra pounds you may have, or that spot in your skin or your messy hair. Look at the good things that you have outside (and inside even if the mirror won't show them) and tell yourself I love you, that you accept yourself with your perks and your drawbacks. Tell yourself that you aren't perfect but that's not the most important thing in the world. And when you realize that perfection isn't everything you will start loving yourself and you will be happier. And in that, the moment that you realize how beautiful you look without makeup, with your hair tied in a messy bun, your stomach filled and your smile as your trade mark, for me you will achieve perfection.
