Recomendación literaria: Amy & Roger, Morgan Matson

¡Hola lectores! ¿Cómo va la vuelta a clase? ¡La mía genial! (Aparte del cansancio y la falta de tiempo para leer). Y bueno, aunque ahora mismo debería estar estudiando el alfabetogammadeltaépsilon griego he decido ponerme al día con los libros que llevo varias semanas queriendo reseñar (y como sabéis, por falta de ordenador no he podido). Hoy os traigo Amy & Roger de Morgan Matson.

Para encontrar el verdadero camino, a veces tienes que perderte…
Amy no quiere que llegue el verano. Su madre ha decidido mudarse al otro extremo de los Estados Unidos, y ahora Amy tiene que llevar el coche de California a Connecticut. El problema es que, desde la muerte de su padre en un accidente de tráfico, no se siente capaz de ponerse al volante. Y aquí entra Roger, un amigo de la infancia que también debe viajar al otro lado del país, y que carga con sus propios problemas.
A medida que avanzan, ambos descubrirán que las personas que menos esperas pueden convertirse en las más importantes y que a veces es necesario dar algunos rodeos para llegar a casa.

Este libro es una lectura de verano en letras mayúsculas. Una lectura muy fácil, un libro que engancha (y una portada que entra por los ojos como lo hace una tarta de chocolate después de una semana de dieta)y unos personajes a los que es dificil no querer. 

Si nos centramos en la trama es bastante simple y no es un libro que haga pensar ni que vaya a recordar dentro de diez meses (de hecho lo leí el mes pasado y lo tengo un pelín borroso) pero es entretenido. Algo negativo que remarcaría en el libro es que yo pensaba (y esto es algo personal) que iba a ser un libro mucho más pasteloso y me decepcionó un poco ya que  a nuestros dos protagonistas les cuesta bastante comenzar su relación y después, como es lógico, se arrepienten de no haber comenzado su amorío antes. Tampoco me gustó demasiado que no se diga el por qué Amy no quiere conducir hasta casi el final del libro (aunque resulta bastante obvio, el momento en el que Amy se lo cuenta a Roger se hace demasiado de rogar).

Y si tuviese que destacar algo que me ha encantado de esta lectura son las listas de reproducción y los pequeños recortes de los sitios a los que viajan. Lo primero porque he conocido muchas canciones nuevas (y me ha hecho ilusión ver Vanilla Twilight de Owl City, que ya la conocía pero es de mis grupos y canciones favoritas de ellos) y las playlist de Amy con música de Broadway son geniales. 

Lo segundo, porque me parece que esos pequeños pedazos de información te dan una idea más detallada de donde se ubican los chicos, aprendes un poco de cultura sobre esos sitios ( por ejemplo, el lema de Carolina del Norte "Esse queam videri" -> "Ser antes que parecer") y me parece una idea muy original (y me arrepiento de no haberlo leído en físico para apreciar mejor esos pequeños detalles).

Hi readers! How’s back to school going? Mine fantastic! (Apart from the continuous tiredness and not being able to read as much as I would love to).  And even if I should be studying the alphabet in Greek right now I decided to catch up with the books that I have wanted to review during week (but as you know, I didn’t have a computer to do it). So today I’m bringing you the review of Amy & Roger.

Amy Curry is not looking forward to her summer. Her mother decided to move across the country and now it's Amy's responsibility to get their car from California to Connecticut. The only problem is, since her father died in a car accident, she isn't ready to get behind the wheel. Enter Roger. An old family friend, he also has to make the cross-country trip - and has plenty of baggage of his own. The road home may be unfamiliar - especially with their friendship venturing into uncharted territory - but together, Amy and Roger will figure out how to map their way.

This book is a summer to be read in capital letters. A book really easy to read, very catchy (and a very pretty cover) and characters which are hard not to love.

It has a simple plot and it’s a book that I won’t remember in ten months (in fact it’s quite blurry now and I read it a month ago) but it is entertaining. Still I would highlight some things that I didn’t like about it. Firstly, I thought (and this critic is based on my personal like and opinion) that it was going to be much more cheesy and I was a little bit disappointed to see that it took them almost the whole book to have something (and then, obviously, having to read their complains about not being that much together after the voyage). Amy not confessing what happened with her family to Roger till the end of the book was also another thing that I didn’t enjoy because the author waited too much to drop the bomb. 

And to remark what I loved about this book I will go with the playlist they made for the trip because I’m listening to bands that I haven’t heard before (and I was pretty excited to see through the tracks Vanilla Twilight from Owl City) and I loved the Broadway music playlist too.

I loved too the little cut outs of places they visited during the journey and how Morgan taught us through them some curiosities about the places they visited (For instance, I loved the North California motto "Esse queam videri" -> Being before appearing) and I found it very original (and I regret not reading it in paper to appreciate better those details)
